Foreign trade, customs and fiscal compliance from a legal, operational and technological perspective
TradeLaw Advisors by FAS is a firm specializing in foreign trade, customs law and fiscal compliance. We advise national and multinational companies on risk prevention, transaction structuring, regulatory compliance, and the defense and development of strategic solutions for their international operations.
We integrate law, operations, taxation and technology to turn compliance into a tool for control, continuity and value generation.
A specialized practice
Compliance that the operation understands
Foreign trade operations cannot be analyzed exclusively from a customs law perspective. Their compliance involves operational processes, documentation, systems, inventories, valuation, origin, contributions, non-tariff regulations, and business decisions that must be consistent with each other.
Therefore, our practice combines legal and tax analysis with operational knowledge and technological tools, enabling us to accompany companies from day-to-day consultations to transformation projects, audits, authorisations and highly complex disputes.
Services
Specialized solutions for foreign trade operations
Our practice is structured into six main lines of service.
Specialized advice in foreign trade, customs and fiscal compliance
Technical assistance for consultations arising in the Company’s daily operations regarding customs legislation, valuation, tariff classification, origin, contributions, customs regimes, documentation, regulations, and foreign trade programs.
Consulting and strategic projects
Development of projects that require comprehensive analysis, process design, implementation of controls, restructuring of operational or fiscal models, and specialized support. Includes projects related to IMMEX, PROSEC, VAT Certification and IEPS, OEA, Tax Deposit, Strategic Tax Zone, and other special schemes.
Auditing, diagnosis and risk management
Preventive assessment of fiscal and customs compliance to identify deviations, quantify exposures and establish corrective actions. It includes audits of requests, customs files, Annexes 24 and 30, valuation, origin, Declaration of Value, inventories and other critical components of the operation.
Programs, certifications and regulatory services
Assistance in obtaining, modifying, maintaining, and fulfilling authorisations, registrations, programmes, and certifications related to international operations. Our regulatory practice includes handling matters with authorities such as the Secretariat of the Economy, COFEPRIS, SEMARNAT, SENASICA, and SEDENA, as well as NOMs and non-tariff regulations.
Prevention of disputes, regularization and defense
We design strategies to address fiscal and customs contingencies from their early stages, prioritizing preventive solutions and regularization mechanisms when appropriate. Furthermore, we represent our clients in administrative procedures, audit powers, disputes, and means of defense.
Specialized training
We design training programs in foreign trade, customs, and fiscal compliance aimed at legal, fiscal, accounting, logistical, operational, and managerial functions. The programs can be delivered through courses, hands-on workshops, executive sessions, or specific schemes for each organization.
Advisory and consulting services
Two ways to accompany the same operation
Advisory services
The advisory service addresses the queries arising in the day-to-day operations of the Company. It allows for the interpretation of legal, fiscal and customs regulations, the assessment of specific situations, the guidance of decisions, and the timely warning of risks arising from a particular operation.
Its nature is primarily punctual, technical, and of immediate response.
Consulting
Consulting involves more comprehensive support. It involves part of the comprehensive analysis of processes, programs, controls, and obligations to identify areas for improvement, structure solutions, and implement sustainable compliance models.
Its nature is primarily strategic, structured, and preventive.
A consultation resolves a decision. A consulting project transforms the way that decision is managed in the future.
Our approach
An integrated view of compliance
Preventive approach
We identify risks before they evolve into differences in contributions, fines, suspension of benefits, operational disruptions, or disputes with the authority.
Structured methodology
We analyze the operation from its different legal, fiscal, documentary, operational, and technological components, prioritizing findings based on their materiality and level of exposure.
Technological integration
We use technology to facilitate the mass analysis of operations, document traceability, the identification of inconsistencies, and compliance management. Our practice incorporates specialized tools such as DataXtractor
Specialized team
The projects are integrated according to the nature of each matter by specialists in customs law, foreign trade, taxation, operations, systems and compliance.
Models of care
A care model adapted to each need
Our services can be structured according to the nature, frequency, and complexity of each Company's needs.
Services per project
For specific objectives that require previously defined scope, methodology, deliverables, and timeline.
Hourly consulting
For technical inquiries, opinions, specific analyses or specialized needs for immediate attention.
Recurring accompaniment
Through equalization schemes that allow the internal areas to have continuous access to specialized advice and preventive follow-up.
